Getting Ready to go

The Bracebridge and Gravenhurst Rotary Clubs are heading to Cambodia to distribute bicycles to rural school children.  A very succesful fundraising campaign raised enough funds to cover the purchase of 1,000 new bicycles.  These will be distributed during the month of January commencing on January 4, 2012.

The team members include Dave and Linda Brouillette, Jan and Peter Rickard, Steve and Janice Hayhurst, Walter and Donna Ried, Keith and Susan Montgomery, Michaela Korb, Rick and Cheryl Hunter, Ruth Bell Towns, Ron and Margaret Walton and field coordinator - Lisa McCoy.  Special guests also include Stephanie Boag and Naomi Hickey-Humble from Australia.

Everyone has been getting ready - obtaining visa's, collecting supplies to donate etc.

Assuming we will have internet access we hope to keep updating this blog as we proceed through our adventure.

  1. Only 5 more days and the first of the RWFL Team arrives here in Cambodia. We have been busy shipping 100 bicycles every three days to our 5 target locations. The Battambang Rotary Club is excited about our arrival and the time we will spend working with them. Likewise, our local team is busy preparing for our three weeks in Cambodia. It will be 3 weeks of hard work, but with unending rewards as we provide 1,000 needy children with the opportunity to get to school. Can't wait until you arrive! Rotary Cheers and Happy New Year!
